3D Scanning

Provide us with a part. We will create a high resolution digital model.

3D Scanning is the starting point for many design and engineering projects. The process produces a high resolution, 3D model of the original object.

The scanner projects structured light onto the object, revealing, then capturing its features. Stereoscopic depth sensing cameras record dimensions in the sub millimeter range.

Workflow

The scanner projects structured light onto the object, revealing, then capturing its features. Stereoscopic depth sensing cameras record dimensions in the sub millimeter range.

Lighting and camera information is interpolated into a detailed point cloud. High powered scanner software converts these points into a solid mesh, creating CAD readable data.

In some cases the process ends with this data saved for archiving or analysis. In other instances we create 3D prints from the scan data. In most applications, the data is the foundation for reverse engineering.

Drop off your part at our studio in DTLA or ship it to us. When the scan is complete (usually within 48 hours) we will notify you that it’s ready for pickup. If the part was shipped to us, it will be repackaged and returned to you.
